Dr. Eisenmann- Klein received her medical degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-University School of Medicine in Munich, Germany. She started her training in General Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center New York City, USA and completed it at City Hospital Schwabing in Munich, Germany.
Board Certification in General Surgery was accomplished in 1982. She became a resident/fellow in Plastic Surgery at City Hospital Muenchen-Bogenhausen, Germany in the training program of Prof. Wolfgang Mühlbauer. In 1984 she spent 4 weeks at Rui Jin Hospital in Shanghai, China, as a Guest Physisian. In 1987 she was Board certified in Plastic Surgery by the Medical Association of Bavaria. In 1988 she became Director of the Community Hospital in Nittenau, Germany. In 1993 she was appointed to become the Director of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at Caritas Hospital St. Josef Regensburg, Germany. In 2004 she signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Regensburg to provide Plastic Surgery Services at the University Hospital, including research programs and teaching of medical students. In 2008 she was elected to be the deputy Medical Director of the Caritas Hospital St. Josef, Regensburg.
In 2007 she was granted the title “Honorary Professor of Surgery” at Basrah University Medical School, Iraq.
In 2008 she received the title of an Honorary Doctor at Carolus Davila University in Bucarest, Romania.
Dr. Eisenmann-Klein has very well rounded clinical skills in all aspects of hand, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Especially in breast surgery her broad spectrum enables her to solve difficult clinical problems with innovative techniques. She was the first to introduce fat grafting for breast reconstruction, breast deformities and hypomastia in combination with a vacuum assisted bra outside the US. She developed a technique for short scar breast reduction which she teaches in courses around the world. She is involved in research programs for treatment of Duchennes` Muscular Dystrophy Disease with heterologous stem cells. Her research involvement also includes treatment of chronic wounds with Extracorporal Shockwave Therapy, breast implants and capsular contracture, lipolysis, surgical treatment of phantome pain and psychological research about attractiveness and self esteem of patients going for aesthetic surgery.
Dr. Eisenmann-Klein was involved in more than 50 scientific publications in numerous journals and 10 book chapters. She is the leading author of “Innovations in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery” and co-author of Maria Siemionow in “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery”. She has had more than 250 scientific presentations as the first author at international congresses. She has been the editor of Plastische Chirurgie, the official organ of the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery from 2003 to 2007. She is on the Editorial Board of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery since 2003 and recently also on the Editorial Board of the Egyptian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the IPRAS Journal.
She has served many times as a visiting professor in the US, Kuwait, Libya and India. She has given numerous invited lectures and keynote speeches.
Dr. Eisenmann-Klein is the General Secretary of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) since 2006. She was President of the German Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons from 2005 to 2007. She has chaired several committees of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). She was the founder and still is a leading active member of the humanitarian initiative “Women for Women” by IPRAS! This non-profit organization is committed to perform reconstructive surgery in women who became victims of crime or violence (e.g. acid and burn injuries in India or circumcision in Africa).
From 2001-2005 she was President of the Red Cross District of Regensburg and still is Vice President since 2005.
She is a corresponding member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the recipient of the Presidents Award of the American Society of Plastic Surgery in 2006. In 2007 she became Honorary Professor of the Basrah University, Iraq, in 2008 Honorary Doctor of the Carolus Davila University of Bucharest, Romania.
She was granted honorary membership of the Society of Plastic Surgery in Romania in 2008 and in Uzbekistan in 2010.
She was awarded by the USArmy with the Freedom Team Salute Commendation in 2009.
She was the 2009 lecturer of the RN Sharma Oration Lecture at Lucknow University in India.
She was one of the Co-Organizer of the World Congress 2007 in Berlin, Germany.
She was the Honorary President of the IPRAS World Congress 2009 in New Deli, India, as well as the Honorary President of the Central Asian Congress 2010 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Dr. Eisenmann-Klein serves the government of the State of Bavaria as health care expert for the Arab world and has been invited to participate in three missions of the government to Oman, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Since 2008 she serves as a temporary adviser to the World Health Organization for the program “Safe Surgery Saves Lives”.
